Alsergrund district is densely interconnected by the means of public transportation provided by Wiener Linien. Apart from several tramaria
mway lines running along its district borders, it features connections to three underground lines with nine stations. Its density of extraordinary, beautifully preserved and stylish old buildings make Alsergrund stand out. Palais Liechtenstein, Vienna’s Votivkirche Church close to the inner city and Volksoper opera house characterise this district. Strudlhofstiege stairs, a significant Art Nouveau structure which became famous through Heimito von Doderer’s novel of the same name are currently being rehabilitated.
